Game Overview

WAN! is a cute and exciting UNO-style card game where players walk their dog between the “Plaza”, “Uphill”, and “Downhill” locations, playing cards according to the rules of each area.
When you have only one card left, shout “WAN! (One)!” — and if you play your last card, you win the game.

Component

・42 Dog Cards (Yellow, Red, and Blue number cards 1–6, two of each; plus one Wild card of each color)

・5 Summary Cards

・1 Walk Sheet (game board)

・1 Dog Token

Setup

①Place the walk sheet (game board) within reach of all players.

②Each player receives one summary card.

③Shuffle the 42 dog cards and place one face-up in each of the three play areas on the board.

④Deal each player their starting hand (7 cards for 2–4 players, 6 cards for 5 players).

⑤Place remaining cards as the draw pile on the board.

⑥Put the dog token on the “plaza(ひろば)” space.

⑦Choose a starting player (e.g., the last person who walked a dog).

About the Active Area

A key feature of this game is that there are three different play areas.
Only the area where the dog token is located is active, and players may play cards only in that area.

Which area is active depends on which tree stump the dog token is on.
There are three areas: the “Plaza(ひろば)”, the “Uphill(のぼり)”, and the “Downhill(くだり)”.

In this case, play the card in the “Plaza(ひろば)”.

How to Play

On your turn, choose one of the following actions:

1. Play a Card

Play a card from your hand to the active area (where the dog token is), following that location’s rule:

Plaza(ひろば): Match either color or number (single card only).

Uphill(のぼり): Choose the same number or a number one higher than the top card.

Downhill(くだり): Choose the same number or a number one lower than the top card.

※Numbers 1 and 6 are connected: one higher than 6 is 1, and one lower than 1 is 6.

★ Some cards have a paw icon.
When you play one of these cards, move the dog token to another location at the end of your turn.

★ Same-Color Sequence Play
This action is only available in the “Uphill” and “Downhill” areas.

You may play a sequence of consecutive numbers as long as they are the same color, starting with a card that matches the color of the first card you play.
All cards played must follow the rules of the “Uphill” or “Downhill” area.
※You may play as many cards as the sequence continues.
※Numbers 1 and 6 are considered consecutive.

Wild Cards act as any color and can help complete color runs.

2. Pass (Draw a Card)

If you can’t play, draw one card from either the draw pile or a play area (if available).
If the draw pile runs out, reshuffle the top cards from each play area to make a new draw pile.

★ When the draw pile runs out
When the draw pile is empty, immediately leave the top card in each of the three areas and shuffle all other cards to form a new draw pile.

Winning the Game

When you have only one card left, you must loudly declare “WAN!(One!)”
The first player to play all their cards wins! If you forget to say “WAN!(One!)” and an opponent catches it before the next player goes, you must draw a penalty card.

Penalty

If you forget to say “WAN!(One!)” and another player points it out before the next player plays a card or passes, you must draw one card from the draw pile and add it to your hand.

This penalty also applies even if you go out by playing a same-color sequence.

For longer play, we recommend deciding in advance how many wins are needed to win the game.
